NOTD - Avon Sequinned Turquoise

Avon Nailwear Pro
Sequinned Turquoise

I have had this polish about a year, but its never really stood out to me enough to actually wear it. After applying it - i really don't know why!

I tried to capture just how striking the colour us, and although its a little more greeny blue in real life, i managed to capture the glitter and shimmer of this product.
This lasted around 4 days before chipping (and thats with no top coat), which is pretty good going in my eyes!

I am going on holiday later this year, and ill probably be taking this with me, as it really is stunning when it catches the light - perfect for holding my pina colada by the pool!

Makeup Counter Encounter - Benefit Haul

There wasn't even supposed to be a haul. There wasn't even supposed to be any thoughts of shopping. But then i had my FIRST ever makeup counter encounter. And everything changed.
Basically my local Debenhams went all fancy and got a Benefit Brow Bar put into it, and one day as i was walking through i got collared by a sales assistant. Before i knew it i had an appointment the following saturday to have my brows waxed and tinted, the 'Benefit' way.
I think this was a clever trick by the company, but basically as i was waiting to have my brows done, the sales assistant said i could have my makeup done as apparently this was part of the deal.
Ive never had my makeup done before, and i guess i got all caught up in the exciting experience. To cut a long story short, the sales assistant put a truck load of makeup on my face, and when i saw myself in the mirror, i couldn't believe how amazing my skin looked. It was literally flawless.
Then came the whole 'are there any products you would like to buy today?' and before i could say anything i was at the til entering my pin for the products below. I then went on to get my brows done, and left feeling very pampered. Once in the car, i looked in the mirror (in normal day lighting) and was quite horrified at the amount of makeup on my face, and how it has clumped in dry patches all over my skin. I now realise the lighting at the makeup counter is very clever!

Overall, i have very mixed feelings about my first counter encounter. While i LOVE benefit and think the quality of their products is second to none, i feel i bought products i would have never even considered had it been fully my choice. And i know it was ME who bought the products, and ME who put in my pin, but there was just so much pressure at the time, which makes me unsure if i would go back. If you're on a budget or don't want to spend to much, id avoid these counters all together, as i ended up spending £60 on 2 products and an eyebrow wax, which isn't a cheap day!

Here's what i bought..

Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow - Believe in me Ivory £24.50 (here)

Hello Flawless Cover Up SPF20 - Me Vain Champagne £24.50 (here)

I also purchased this (from the comfort of my own home this time)

Lemon Aid Eyelid Primer £16.50 - here

This is actually a repurchase as i love this product so much, and its very rare i use anything else to prime my eyes.

Continuing with the Benefit theme of this post, heres what was free in this months Glamour magazine..

The POREfessional Primer £19.58 - here

I look forward to hearing about everyone else's makeup counter encounters, please comment below!

My Hair - Tag

Its been ages since I've done a tag, and to be honest i haven't done many at all. In all honesty, i am hoping this will take my mind off the fact its thundering and lightening outside, and i am really really frightened!

Camigmakeup4u2c (i hope I've spelt that right!) created this tag, and it really made me think because whilst i focus on my nails and makeup greatly, i don't always pay enough attention to my tresses, which is something i want to change.
Here are the questions..

1. When was the first time you got your hair cut?

I asked my mum and all i got was a long pause, before the words ' i cut it myself' - whatever that means.

2. When was the first time you got your hair colored, highlighted, ect.

I was 11, and looking back this is far too early, but it really hasnt done me any harm don't worry.

3. What is one hair product you can't live with out?

Dry shampoo or talcum powder. I try to wash my hair as least as possible as I've noticed that since I've done this its been in much better condition. I now wash my hair every 2 or 3 days, and sometimes on the 2nd or 3rd day, ill apply a little dry shampoo (or talc, it does exactly the same job) to my roots, just to give me that fresher feeling.

By the way i can't take credit for that, i learnt that trick of my big sister!

4.  What is a hair product you regret buying?

Lee Stafford Beach Babe Sea Salt Spray - i had high hopes, and it left my hair smelling salty and looking shit.

5. What color do you want to dye your hair next?

I dont! Im really close to my natural hair colour, and id like to stay like this for the foreseeable future :)

6. What is the next hair product you really want to buy?

Lee Stafford For Hair That Never Grows - I'm really curious about that!

7. What is a hyped up product that never worked for you?

Superdrug dry shampoo - it left my hair greasier than when i started

8. What do you think about extensions?

Id never wear them, even as a dancer because my hair is fairly long and very thick. I don't really have an opinion.

9. What is one hair care rule you never follow?

I don't use a comb to brush my hair when its wet, i either forget to brush at all, or use a paddle brush - so bad !

10. Do you use vitamins to improve the health of your hair?

No, I'm a bit apprehensive of using things like that!

11. Who is your hair idol?

Beyonce, she has the biggest craziest most beautiful hair I've even seen -  a true diva !

Having to sit and talk about my hair was a lot harder than i thought, and i have definitely realised i need to pay more attention to my locks!
I tag EVERYONE, and ill be looking out for your posts on this!

NOTD - Fruity Glitter !

L.A Colours - Jewel Tone
Collection 2000 - Fruit Salad

This is has fast become one my favourite combinations for summer, its the perfect peachy pinky coral shade (which seems to be the 'in' colour this year) and the sparkle just makes this that little bit more fun, and suitable for night time too!

Putting the glitter top coat on meant this lasted a WEEK, which is very good going in my eyes! The shimmer this gives off when in the sun is something you just don't get when you wear glitter at christmas time.

I must admit i LOVE the Fruit Salad without the glitter, and thats probably the more versatile option if you're fashion forward, but i think this just goes to show you don't have to save all your glitters for the festive season - they can add a touch of sparkle to your summer too!
