New Years Resolutions

Okay so everyone else is doing them, so i thought id share mine with you. Each year i try to make a small resolution - something i know ill be able to keep, rather than being disheartened and feeling like a failure when i dont manage to keep my resolution to become a millionare or lose 3 stone by summer! Here are my resolutions, ive thought long and hard about them, and ive decided this is what i want to change this year...

1. Have a set skin routine which i will religiously follow - I must admit i do do a lot for my skin, in regards to face masks, cleansersm, toners, moisturisers, face washes etc etc, but i am forever buying new things, and mix matching between products, only keeping a few items as staples. Surely chopping and changing between products means that not only do i not see the benefits of products, i dont know whats improving/affecting my skin because i use so many things. I may even write a list of products which will be my staples if needs be, i know it sounds sad, but i want to get the most out of my products, and find out what works best for my skin so i can have a Beyonce-esque glow this year!

2. Make time for a bubble bath - Up until recently, i have been allergic to bubble bath, which means i cannot experience the pure bliss a nice soapy hot bath can bring, terrible i know! So this year, when i feel stressed or have had a hard day at work/uni, i am going to make time to light some candles, grab a good book, and have a good old soak in the tub. Please note this resolution is largely influenced by my new Calm One Calm All Soap and Glory bubble bath - i couldnt resist!

3. Look after my tresses - After years of dying it, growing it and cutting it, as of late ive been neglecting my hair. Although i do not regularly use heat on my hair (it's naturally very wavy/slightly curly so i dont usually straighten it) i feel i neglect it in terms of products which claim to enchance shine, eliminate frizz and generally work wonders for my hair. Due to the fact i am doing a degree in dance, my hair is mostly whipped up on the top of my head in what can only be described as a Miss Trunchball style 'do. Ive recently invested in a large number of hair products, and CANNOT wait to try them so i can post reviews and whatnot, and of course for my hair to reap the benefits!

4. Increase my makeup collection sensibly, and with a variation - Like anyone, i have certain brands which are my favourites, but this year i want to branch out and try literally anything within my budget (im a student who works in a pub so lets be realistic). I want to try things ive been reading reviews on for ages but havent yet purchased, because afterall this is what my blog is all about isnt it? Aside from my glossybox subscription, im going to set an amount of money for each month (and stick to it) in which to buy the products i am most yearning for - that way i wont splurge and buy things im never going to use, ill just buy the things i want the most. Plus it will be a fun challenge to try and buy the things i want whilst sticking to a budget - i do have an eye for bargains ;)

5. Have more followers - Yes i know its not about how many followers you have, and in a way this blog is partly for myself, to keep my occupied and simply because i enjoy it - but lets face it, its nice to know that what youre writing is being read by others isnt it? I currently have 3 followers, and although i have just started blogging, i feel pretty wimpy when i read other blogs and look at the followers. I think im just going to keep doing what im doing, and hope that other people will enjoy reading my blog as much as i enjoy writing it!

So there are my 5 resolutions, not particularly daring or crazy, but im much less likely to stick to something outrageous - its just not me ! I hope this has inspired some of you to think about your resolutions, and if so id love to read your comments telling me what they are!

Happy new year !

Oh christmas tree......

As promised here is our christmas tree! We did get a real one in the end and i love it, it feels so much more like christmas with lewis home and the decorations up! People keep commenting that the 'noel' sign looks like another word, ill let you decide for yourself! But as far as trees go, this may just be the perfect tree for us :)

Merry Christmas everyone!!

NOTD - christmas is near!

It doesnt get much more festive than this does it ?? I must confess this is my first every Models Own nail polish, which is why i am so excited as ive been yearning for this brand for quite some time! This was an early Christmas present from my best friend, and it actually came in a set of 3 (but thats another post!)
Gold Rush NP 106
It was VERY hard to capture the mass of glitter which runs through this polish , it twinkles every time i move my fingers ! Since i painted this on there have been no chips or smudges, and i have a confident feeling my new Models Own collection will be growing larger very soon !

Nail of the day

This isnt the best picture as im using my phone! This is MUA shade 1, and its a dark blue with glitter running through it, very wintery! First of all the price is amazing (only £1) , and i was curious as to whether the quality would reflect this! This polish did chip after a day, however after i swiftly applied another coat it did seem to stay put, and the glitter in it really shows up when reflected off light. Overall a good polish, and for a price you cant argue with, ill definitely be getting more of these!

Festive nail art ...

Ok so i thought i had a go ! I've done nail art many times in the past, but I've never tried my hand at festive designs! The picture isn't great but as i took this my camera ran out of battery, so this will have to do (in the meantime I'm on the hunt for more batteries so there will be more posts to follow)

Please post links to your festive nails, id love to see everyone else's ! Also, feel fee to give my any tips on how i can make mine a bit neater !
 Merry Christmas everyone!

The perfect tree for me ....

They say you learn something new every day, and today mine is that finding the perfect christmas tree is a lot harder than i first thought! My boyfriend is determined we are having a real one, but he's in the navy and isn't actually home til just before christmas, so whats the point in having a real tree he won't be able to fully appreciate? Having said that, to keep him sweet we went shopping for the 'perfect' tree, and let me tell you we were unsuccessful ! There were just so many, and each tree looked totally different, and trying to fit some of them into our flat would be impossible! (not to mention the 5 flights of stairs and no lift.) I don't really know what I'm trying to get at this post, i just thought id share my frustrating of finding our tree, i mean whats wrong with a standard artificial one we can use every year? Or is a real tree more significant?

Superdrug haul and review

If i had to sum up last week in one word - BARGAIN
At Superdrug, Bourjois are holding a 3 for 2 offer on all products, and if you get 3 products, you receive a free party essentials makeup bag full of products!
If you spend £6 on Barry M products, you also receive a free limited edition nail polish, so as you can imagine i was very excited !
After purchasing a number of perfumes, I gained £15 worth of points on my super drug beauty card, and in total i ended up saving £25.99 - can you believe it !!!!
So heres what i got (ill show you the contents of the bourgois bag further down) ......
This is an overview, now for some swatches and reviews....
MUA shade 11 and 24 (L-R) - these are AMAZING, i've had comments every time I've worn these, they're the perfect winter natural colours, yet hold a hint of shimmer, making them wearable for both day and night. These 2 colours go together perfectly, and have been a staple in my everyday makeup bag since i bought them a few weeks ago!

Bourjois eyeshadow extrait 03 - when i saw this i knew immediately i was buying it! its so sheer yet sooooooo sparkly, its the perfect product to glide over night eyeshadow to glam it up - perfect for the festive season! i would also say this could be used as a highlighter, as it would really brighten up your face. Of all the things in this haul, this might just be my favourite!

Barry M pillarbox red lipstick, no 121. I'll do a Barry M lipstick review at some point, and you'll soon find out how much i love their lipsticks! (i'm growing quite a collection!) They never make my lips dry, and the fact that their lipsticks are so creamy, i don't feel the need to apply gloss over the top (although my friend does and it looks brilliant!) I'm also going to do a post about beauty essentials, which will include this, every girl needs at least one red lipstick right??

Bourjois bronzer no 51 & Bourjois blusher no 33 lilas d'or - why haven't i purchased these before?? the bronzer smells AMAZING, i'd say chocolate mixed with a light perfume smell (doesn't sound that great but it really is) and i think id repurchase this for the smell alone ! it looks quite dark but when applied its actually quite sheer, allowing you to build the colour up gradually - something i appreciate whilst getting ready on these dark mornings when the light isn't at its best!
I absolutely love this blusher, and almost don't want to use it because i want to keep it forever! When i first saw the gold running through the pinky colour i was unsure as to whether this would work for my face (i prefer pink blushers), however i was very pleasantly surprised! Due to the shimmer in this product i'd definitely recommend it for night time (again perfect for the party season), however it still looks lovely during the day if the rest of your makeup is simple.

Onto the most exciting part - my free party essentials bag!
What i loved most about this bag (apart from the fact it contained a full mascara which is £9.49 to buy) was the fact that the products are perfect to keep in my handbag while I'm out and about!
The mascara isn't the worst mascara I've ever used but its not the best. I don't think id pay the full amount for this, but having said that, it separated my lashes well, and gave me a real natural look (perfect for day). The only downside was that it didn't make them longer, which i don't think they claimed to anyway. Overall i do recommend this mascara if you're looking for something understated and natural, and want good lash separation.
The eyeliner pencil (no 46) is a really gorgeous colour, not too purple, more like black with a hint of purple. I'll definitely be wearing this over christmas as its the perfect party colour, without being too much (so i can wear it with sparkly dresses)
The lip gloss is a lovely colour for all year round, although i wasn't so keen on the brush (it's a bit like a nail varnish brush) as its kind of stuck together with the formula of the gloss. The colour is fairly opaque and is already in my handbag as a handy touch up throughout the day!

It was difficult to get pictures that do these justice, but the eyeshadow (which doesn't have a shade on it) is something id wear over the top of eyeshadow for night time glam, rather than a base its so sheer, and the glitter in it is slightly 'bitty'. I love neutral colours, especially this time of the year, so was really happy with what i got in this free gift!
The cream blush (no 06) is very much similar to the boujois blusher i bought, just a cream version, with the gold running through the pink. This is quite pigmented so I'm a little apprehensive of applying it incase it all goes wrong! The colour hasn't been picked up on in the picture, sorry girls !

A general finding about bourgois was the brilliant staying power of all these products, and as a dancer I've really put them to the test! Boujois are a little more expensive than other superdrug brands but now I've got the Boujois bug ill definitely be going back for more - after all id rather pay extra to have great quality products! Also these photos really don't do the colours justice, I'm working on my photography skills i promise!

Has anyone else been lucky enough to catch this offer, and if you did did you receive the same products as i did? Let me know what you think, i'd love to read some comments :)
