Maybeline Colossal Cat Eyes Mascara Review

Erm.. I have a confession - This post has been sitting in my drafts for just over 18months… Oops indeedy!
I initially reviewed this when it was all over blogs and youtube, so I'm sure this would have gone down much better then BUT there's got to be some of you lovely lot who haven't yet tried this?

On the plus side of this being super late, you get to see how dodgy my eyebrows were when i used to fill them in with eyeshadow - enjoy :)

* Good Points *

The packaging - I'm a sucker for anything leopard print and lets face it this is enough to jazz up any makeup bag, especially since spring is here and summer isn't (hopefully) too far off. Another bonus is the design doesn't rub off which tends to happen when theres a snazzy design on something! Its also really sturdy and i travelled with this numerous times, safely knowing it would arrive in the same condition it left :)

The Price - £7.99 for a mascara which will give you around 6 months (if not more) use works out very cheap when you think cost per use. I also prefer this to other mascaras which were much more costly, i.e. Loreal, Benefit, PLUS theres always some sort of 3 for 2/ buy one get one half price etc offer on so its very rare you'd actually end up paying this price

Quality of the product - although this didn't make my eyelashes look super thick (which it does claim to do), it did lengthen and it did give me the cat eye flick on the outer edges. The shape of the brush also meant there was no need to curl my lashes, as this did the job just fine!

* Not so good points *

Excess product - as you can see on the photos, there was excess mascara, around my lid in particular, which meant I had to wait for the mascara to dry, then use a wipe to clean it - this is a problem A) if you're in a rush B) if you forget and enter the outside world looking as if you've been crying/were half asleep when you did your makeup.

Overall I definitely recommend this product, and once I've used up my current stash of mascaras this will be one of few I will actually repurchase. I also recommended this to my friend who has beautiful asian eyes and her eyelashes are very long and thick, but point down - if that makes sense? They made them even longer and did slightly curl them up despite the weight of her lashes working fiercely against this!

Have you tried this mascara? Is it a current favourite or am I talking about a product everyone forgot about? haha

You can buy this here for £7.99

September Favourites

Firstly, if you've read my last post you'll know i had no camera, however i just couldn't stand not being able to postpone my September Favourites any longer! Ive had to take these pictures using my phone, so understandably they're a bit hit and miss!

Batiste Dry Shampoo Tropical £4.99 - here

Ive been having a bit of a greasy hair month throughout September - i need to find a new shampoo! This has been my saviour, and gives me that extra day between washes.

O.P.I Avojuice Skin Quenchers in Crisp Apple - here

My hands have definitely felt the wrath of the cold weather, and this is doing just the trick - so much so I've nearly used it all! :(

No7 Exceptional Definition Mascara in Black £11 - here

This is also nearly ran out, yet it continues to make my lashes long and thick - this will always be a winner in my eyes!

Christina Aguilera Eau de Parfum £16.90 -here

Ive actually used this up this month, thats how much i love it! It reminds me of being in New York, so this is a very nostalgic smell for me!

MUA Sugar Lips Lip Balm £2 - here

These are amazing, I've just wrote a review on these to expect that very soon! They've given my lips just what they need in this cold weather

Barry M Nail Paint in Rasberry £2.99 - here

I LOVE this - i will be wearing this all Autumn - its the perfect colour for this time of the year, and its really chip resistant, which is what we need when wearing dark nail colours! This is definitely my all time favourite product this month, and you'll probably see it next month too!

My other favourites include a MAC blusher brush (129SE - here) and a Barry M Shimmering Eye and Lip Crayon £4.59 (here) (these pictures wouldn't upload). Ive used both these products daily and find the quality amazing.

Non-beauty Favourites

The Hills - I've just started watching these from the beginning - 'you know what you did', Whitney falling down the stairs, and THAT rumour - what more could i want?

Galaxy Ripples - enough said really, these are divine and i need to stop eating them!

I hope you enjoyed this months favourites, sorry again for the poopy photos - i just really cannot find my charger anywhere, I'm lost ! :(

See you next month !

August Favourites

Seen as my last months favourites were late, this seems to have come around so quick! A lot of these favourites were things i took on holiday and loved, so without further ado...

Collection 2000 Colour Match Foundation

I got this from Poundland believe it or not! After a week abroad my skin is definitely a few shades darker, but i didn't want to spend much money on a foundation ill only be using for the next couple of months. This is really smooth, and although its dark, its not too dark and like it says on the bottle, it really does blend into your skin colour.

Collection 2000 Shimmer Shades in Blushalicious (3.99) Boots - here

This was the only blusher i took on holiday so i used this everyday. Its SO pigmented and it will last me ages as you only need the tiniest amount on your brush. I haven't really used the bottom right shade, but i love all the others - i generally use a little of each on my cheeks everyday for a summery look

No7 Exceptional Definition Mascara in Black (12.50) Boots - here

I took 2 mascaras on holiday, and didn't even use the other one because this is so amazing. It makes my lashes really long and full, its easy to take off, and the brush feels like i gets right in-between each lash.

MAC Plusglass in Ample Pink (17) - here

Ive been wearing this during the day this month, as it seems to just go perfectly with whatever makeup i am wearing, not to mention it smells absolutely gorgeous. Its a subtle nude with a tiny hint of pink, and i always get compliments on this!

17 Ultimate Volume Lipgloss in Butterfly Cake (3.99) Boots - here

I wore this most evenings on holiday, and found its really stunning when the light catches it. Its a pretty pink with a subtle gold shimmer which is what makes it catch the light. It lasted even after a meal, and its in no way sticky - intact it was so smooth i couldn't stop rubbing my lips together!

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Balm Stain (5.99) Boots - here

I LOVE everything about this, the minty smell, the way it feels on my lips, and of course the colour. Its the perfect summer colour, but i will still be using this throughout the autumn as its just too good not to!

Bourjois 1 Second Gel Nail Polish Shade 14 - £5.99
(The false nails are Kiss)

I definitely saved the best til last! It was my birthday on the 1st September, and i luckily found this just in time - this is most definitely my favourite nail polish EVER. I felt like a true disney princess when i put this on
:)

A Belated July Favourites

A bit of background
Feel free to skip ahead, but i feel like i should explain my absence from the beautiful world of blogging. Basically over the summer (im currently at uni but their summer holidays are from may to october - VERY long!) i managed to get myself a much needed full time job. Afterall, makeup doesnt grow on trees does it? So anyway, it was the most un-girliest job EVER, and meant i was getting up at 4:30am some days, and not getting in until 11pm some nights. This left little time for blogging, however i have now finished my time there, and will now be back to my usual daily posts - i have lots of things planned!

July Favourites

Maybeline Dream Satin Liquid in Ivory  £7.99 - here

I actually bought this some time ago (the packaging is now slightly different), and at the time it dried out my skin, however all this gorgeous weather has cleared up that problem, and this is now an absolute dream

NYC Colour Wheel Face Mosaic in Bronze Glow £3.99 - here

This month ive been trying to lessen my layers, so ive been using this as a powder AND bronzer, and it does the job perfectly!

17 Instant Glow Shimmer Brick £4.99 - here

This has been my all time favourite discovery this month. The camera really doesnt pick up the shimmmer in this, but ive been using the top shade as a highlighter. Its the perfect summer product

Eyeko Skinny Eyeliner - shade unknown

I recieved this in my GlossyBox a fair few months ago, and started using it because i didnt want to waste it - but ive actually found i really like it! The only downside to this is the shape - it doesnt fit into my makeup bag, which can be really awkward for travelling. Other than that, i really like the way it brightens up my eyes, in a subtle, natural way.

Maybeline Lash Stiletto Voluptuous Mascara £8.19 - here

This mascara is probably my all time favourite - its AMAZING. Its just about dried up now, but i will most definitely be repurchasing this. I get this from a random shop called Discount UK for £1.49 - a complete bargain! This mascara makes my eyelashes incredibly long with tons of volume, i really cant praise it enough!

Elf Professional Blush Brush £12 (part of a set) - here

I never really include brushes in my favourites, as i tend to overlook them, but theyre a vital tool arent they? I love the angle of this blush, its perfect for getting that 'sweep' across the cheek, and its a really good tool for highlighting too.

Soap and Glory Mighty Mouth Hydrating Lip Balm £8 - here

I wouldnt really class this as a lip balm, id say its more of a gloss. Its quite heavy, you might even go as far to say its sticky. The colour is really quite natural when applied, but then it seems to brighten, although its still pretty natural. Ive been wearing this as part of my summer makeup routine, and i wont be stopping anytime soon!

Primark Necklace - £1.50

This was a nifty little find, and i cant stop wearing it, it goes with everything, and ill continue to wear it til the cows come home. Or my neck goes green.

The Body Shop LOVE ETC... Eau De Parfum £14 - here

Ive had this since the beginning of the year, but ive mostly used it over the summer as its really sweet and fresh fragrance. Its also good for travelling as it comes in 30ml. It lasts all day, and i just cant get enough of this!

Lip Smacker in Coca Cola £1.50 - Primark

Ive been using this before i apply my makeup everyday just as a base and to hydrate my lips. It lasts much longer than that though, and ive since been applying it through the day (it looks similar to vaseline when applied) for a really natural lazy day look.

So there are my favourites for last month (July) and i know there arent that many typical summer products in there, its because thats coming in a different post ;).

Also.....

Arent these the most hideous pair of shoes youve ever seen?

Looking at everyones monthly favourites, they tend to be items that people have used the most during that month right? Well ive worn these most days this month, so do they count? I had to wear 2 pairs of fluffy bed socks as they were so big, and i had to clomp around in a most unladylike fashion.
Luckily, i will never have to wear these again, and i cant wait to see the back of them, but i thought id give you a little chuckle :)
