NOUVEAU LASHES mascara review

I recently recieved this product in my December Glossybox, and couldnt wait to try it as i yearn for long beautiful lashes. The first thing i noticed with this product was the weight of it! The tube itself is considerably heavier than my other mascaras, and i dont know why but it made me think the mascara must be of good quality, especially considering the retail price (around £14.99). The brush is quite thin, which means lashes become seperated, which is something on my check list when looking for a mascara. I also found it lengthened them, without looking too spidery. This mascara is versatile in the sense that it is perfect for day when one coat is applied, but when a second coat is applied lashes appear thicker and even longer, perfect for night time ! Overall i think this is a top quality product - i probably wont repurchase due to the price and the fact i like to try out different products, but its definitely nice to have something in my makeup bag that would usually be out of my price range!

Look what i got !!!

My best friend knows me well doesnt she . I love a good read, and anything about beauty wins me over, so imagine my delight when i unwrapped this at christmas! Expect me to blog about this a lot. Because i will ! I'll probably do an overall review at some point, but i will b referring to this in many a blog post, so keep watch ! If anyone can recommended any similar books id be really grateful as im looking to spend my monday on things like this in 2012 as i have a lot of makeup already!

Soap And Glory Glow Job review

I could not have been more excited to try this product, as ive heard so many wonderful things about Soap and Glory (i actually cant believe im only just trying it now!) During the winter my skin dries out, and i feel this winter has been particularly harsh, so much so i am willing to try ANYTHING that will leave my skin feeling moisturised and baby-like! I didnt expect much from this product in the sense i wasnt expecting a miracle for my dry skin, i simply thought it would act as a good base for my makeup, and leave my skin a little brighter. Well.... i cannot praise this product ENOUGH! My skin is so much more noticably refreshed and moisturised, and i am pretty sure it must be this product as i have not changed anything else regarding skin routine (apart from swapping my foundation for this) and i am so impressed, this is going to be a staple in my everyday makeup bag from now on. The only downside to this product is that it doesnt provide great coverage blemish-wise, and i find i still have to use a good amount of concealer (whereas with a foundation i would have to use much less), however thats not what this product is about, so still  very satisfied!! This will be perfect for summer as it gives a really bronzed glow, and i must admit i was fascinated by the little beads which burst to release colour. Initially i was cautious as i was wondering how i would look if i didnt get an even spread of beads, but this is product is so easy to work with, and so much like a moisturiser it would be almost impossible to go wrong with. Overall, i could not recommend this product more, all i can say is this has caused Soap and Glory to be my new obsession, and result in a purchase of the Big Spleandor vanity case ... oops sorry bank !
(as you can see the macro on the camera i used aint working the best, but you get the idea!)

Oh christmas tree......

As promised here is our christmas tree! We did get a real one in the end and i love it, it feels so much more like christmas with lewis home and the decorations up! People keep commenting that the 'noel' sign looks like another word, ill let you decide for yourself! But as far as trees go, this may just be the perfect tree for us :)

Merry Christmas everyone!!

I've finally been Soap and Gloried !

Well... I've been reading about Soap and Glory for what seems like foreverrrrrr, and seen as I had £15 worth of points on my boots card i knew immediately what i wanted to treat myself on ! Soap and Glory are currently 3 for 2 in boots, so i thought it would be rude not to pick 3 products! After half a hour and lots of testing, i finally picked these products..... (btw when i got to the counter i was unable to use my products as my points had to be equal to or more than the cost of the products, which did kind of defeat the object, but none the less im happy!)
(L-R Hocus Pocus - instant visual flaw-softening lotion, No Clogs Allowed Super Self Heating Deep Pore Detox Mask (this also came with a free sponge!), Glow Job - daily radiance moisture lotion)
I know these products havent been newly released, but they are new to me, and i cannot tell you how excited i am to try these, so expect lots of posts and reviews very soon! Also, my boyfriend has just purchased the Soap and Glory Big Splendour - how lucky am i ?!?! Expect hauls and swatches galore when it gets here !!!

Merry Christmas everyone !

NOTD - christmas is near!

It doesnt get much more festive than this does it ?? I must confess this is my first every Models Own nail polish, which is why i am so excited as ive been yearning for this brand for quite some time! This was an early Christmas present from my best friend, and it actually came in a set of 3 (but thats another post!)
Gold Rush NP 106
It was VERY hard to capture the mass of glitter which runs through this polish , it twinkles every time i move my fingers ! Since i painted this on there have been no chips or smudges, and i have a confident feeling my new Models Own collection will be growing larger very soon !

GlossyBox nail wipes review

Well, i wasnt the most excited to see these Deborah Lippman - The Stripper To Go nail wipes, as it's not really something thats on my wish list each month - more of a basic essentials type thing. However, after seeing how much they cost (£14 for 6 - i think) i thought it would be a nice treat to try out something i wouldnt pay full price for!
I loved the lavender smell, it was a very pleasant change to the usual burn your nostrils nail polish remover! I had a few small cuts on my fingers also which didnt sting like they usually would. Having said alllllll that, i was disappointed at the fact i could only remove polish from 8 fingers, despite the fact it was stated that one mitt would remove polish from all 10. I dont have particularly long nails, so there wasnt even a great deal to take off. No matter how much i rubbed and rubbed, i was eventually forced to admit defeat, and get out my trusty boots own brand nail polish remover, which did the trick in seconds.
Overall i was disappointed with this product, and would definitely not purchase the full sized version, especially when comparing the price and quality of the product, although it was nice to indulge in something a little more pricier !

Have you tried this product?  How did you feel about receiving this in your christmas glossy box?

Nail of the day

This isnt the best picture as im using my phone! This is MUA shade 1, and its a dark blue with glitter running through it, very wintery! First of all the price is amazing (only £1) , and i was curious as to whether the quality would reflect this! This polish did chip after a day, however after i swiftly applied another coat it did seem to stay put, and the glitter in it really shows up when reflected off light. Overall a good polish, and for a price you cant argue with, ill definitely be getting more of these!

Falsies

A while ago (in one of my first ever posts) i expressed my excitement at the fact i was getting acrylic nails! I must confess i didn't really get any good pictures after, and after a week they had all came off, don't think ill bother getting acrylic nails again! Apparently i should have gone back to the salon and complained, but i didn't really want them to be put back on knowing they would fall off shortly after. However, it was nice to have long feminine nails (even if for a short period) , and i think they would be particularly useful for women who live a very busy lifestyle as their so low maintenance, and you don't have to worry about painting them as they look ok without (however, mine looked quite worn within a few days)

The perfect tree for me ....

They say you learn something new every day, and today mine is that finding the perfect christmas tree is a lot harder than i first thought! My boyfriend is determined we are having a real one, but he's in the navy and isn't actually home til just before christmas, so whats the point in having a real tree he won't be able to fully appreciate? Having said that, to keep him sweet we went shopping for the 'perfect' tree, and let me tell you we were unsuccessful ! There were just so many, and each tree looked totally different, and trying to fit some of them into our flat would be impossible! (not to mention the 5 flights of stairs and no lift.) I don't really know what I'm trying to get at this post, i just thought id share my frustrating of finding our tree, i mean whats wrong with a standard artificial one we can use every year? Or is a real tree more significant?

Superdrug haul and review

If i had to sum up last week in one word - BARGAIN
At Superdrug, Bourjois are holding a 3 for 2 offer on all products, and if you get 3 products, you receive a free party essentials makeup bag full of products!
If you spend £6 on Barry M products, you also receive a free limited edition nail polish, so as you can imagine i was very excited !
After purchasing a number of perfumes, I gained £15 worth of points on my super drug beauty card, and in total i ended up saving £25.99 - can you believe it !!!!
So heres what i got (ill show you the contents of the bourgois bag further down) ......
This is an overview, now for some swatches and reviews....
MUA shade 11 and 24 (L-R) - these are AMAZING, i've had comments every time I've worn these, they're the perfect winter natural colours, yet hold a hint of shimmer, making them wearable for both day and night. These 2 colours go together perfectly, and have been a staple in my everyday makeup bag since i bought them a few weeks ago!

Bourjois eyeshadow extrait 03 - when i saw this i knew immediately i was buying it! its so sheer yet sooooooo sparkly, its the perfect product to glide over night eyeshadow to glam it up - perfect for the festive season! i would also say this could be used as a highlighter, as it would really brighten up your face. Of all the things in this haul, this might just be my favourite!

Barry M pillarbox red lipstick, no 121. I'll do a Barry M lipstick review at some point, and you'll soon find out how much i love their lipsticks! (i'm growing quite a collection!) They never make my lips dry, and the fact that their lipsticks are so creamy, i don't feel the need to apply gloss over the top (although my friend does and it looks brilliant!) I'm also going to do a post about beauty essentials, which will include this, every girl needs at least one red lipstick right??

Bourjois bronzer no 51 & Bourjois blusher no 33 lilas d'or - why haven't i purchased these before?? the bronzer smells AMAZING, i'd say chocolate mixed with a light perfume smell (doesn't sound that great but it really is) and i think id repurchase this for the smell alone ! it looks quite dark but when applied its actually quite sheer, allowing you to build the colour up gradually - something i appreciate whilst getting ready on these dark mornings when the light isn't at its best!
I absolutely love this blusher, and almost don't want to use it because i want to keep it forever! When i first saw the gold running through the pinky colour i was unsure as to whether this would work for my face (i prefer pink blushers), however i was very pleasantly surprised! Due to the shimmer in this product i'd definitely recommend it for night time (again perfect for the party season), however it still looks lovely during the day if the rest of your makeup is simple.

Onto the most exciting part - my free party essentials bag!
What i loved most about this bag (apart from the fact it contained a full mascara which is £9.49 to buy) was the fact that the products are perfect to keep in my handbag while I'm out and about!
The mascara isn't the worst mascara I've ever used but its not the best. I don't think id pay the full amount for this, but having said that, it separated my lashes well, and gave me a real natural look (perfect for day). The only downside was that it didn't make them longer, which i don't think they claimed to anyway. Overall i do recommend this mascara if you're looking for something understated and natural, and want good lash separation.
The eyeliner pencil (no 46) is a really gorgeous colour, not too purple, more like black with a hint of purple. I'll definitely be wearing this over christmas as its the perfect party colour, without being too much (so i can wear it with sparkly dresses)
The lip gloss is a lovely colour for all year round, although i wasn't so keen on the brush (it's a bit like a nail varnish brush) as its kind of stuck together with the formula of the gloss. The colour is fairly opaque and is already in my handbag as a handy touch up throughout the day!

It was difficult to get pictures that do these justice, but the eyeshadow (which doesn't have a shade on it) is something id wear over the top of eyeshadow for night time glam, rather than a base its so sheer, and the glitter in it is slightly 'bitty'. I love neutral colours, especially this time of the year, so was really happy with what i got in this free gift!
The cream blush (no 06) is very much similar to the boujois blusher i bought, just a cream version, with the gold running through the pink. This is quite pigmented so I'm a little apprehensive of applying it incase it all goes wrong! The colour hasn't been picked up on in the picture, sorry girls !

A general finding about bourgois was the brilliant staying power of all these products, and as a dancer I've really put them to the test! Boujois are a little more expensive than other superdrug brands but now I've got the Boujois bug ill definitely be going back for more - after all id rather pay extra to have great quality products! Also these photos really don't do the colours justice, I'm working on my photography skills i promise!

Has anyone else been lucky enough to catch this offer, and if you did did you receive the same products as i did? Let me know what you think, i'd love to read some comments :)
